12 Years

Today was a lovely day in Philadelphia, and I took advantage of the beautiful weather to commemorate the past 12 years of my life. A woman from my previous church once mentioned that the Bible included some numbers which had significance. According to her, the number 7 is a number of completion. According to me, the number 12 signals a completed cycle as well.

20 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. 21 She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”

22 Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment.
— Matthew 9:20-22 NIV

Seven years and some months ago, I embarked on an endeavor which I couldn’t see the outcome of: moving overseas. That endeavor took me to 7 countries and sparked a series of events that led to my move to Philadelphia.

Preceding that overseas move was my move back to the Bay Area in 2012, after spending a year in Sacramento. It was a dark period of my life, but God gave me grace by allowing me to have some fun — even through the dark times. On the night of my 28th birthday celebration, I went dancing at a restaurant/nightclub in SF. Today marks the 12 year anniversary of that birthday weekend celebration. Here are some pictures I took today to commemorate my 12 year anniversary!
